Guts

Guts

Raina Telgemeier

Guts, by Raina Telgemeier, is a story of growing up, anxiety, and getting through life. Similar to her other graphic novels, Raina tells the story of her life and the stories that people of all ages can agree to. The story, in a graphic novel, shows the story of Raina and her struggles with stomach aches growing up. Although at first glance the story seems strange and weird, as you continue the story you start to relate more and more to the emotions Raina’s going through. As life continues, reaching the highs and lows of life, it’s clear that what was once a stomach flu, has turned into something that has a much deeper meaning. Follow Raina as she learns the true meaning of being okay with life and herself.

Guts is once again charming and thoughtful with hints of funny weaved in between. Although the story is not my favorite compared to some of Raina’s other books, it is still an amazing book. The story is about growing up and fear. Or, actually, overcoming fear and gathering the courage to overcome the obstacles of life.
