The Fantastic Family Whipple

The Fantastic Family Whipple

Matthew Ward

The Fantastic Family Whipple, by Matthew Ward, is fun, hilarious, and as the title implies, fantastical. These are just three of the 49,521 records won by Arthur’s twelve brothers and sisters. Unfortunately, unlike his siblings, Arthur hasn’t broken a single, solitary world record! But when the Whipple family gets into some trouble, Arthur might be the only one who can help keep his family’s crown of world records. Young readers are going to love The Fantastic Family Whipple. Even better for young readers, the records being set in The Fantastic Family Whipple are all ridiculous, which will no doubt have the young readers chortling. I am sure the story will captivate young reader’s imaginations and hearts.

I did like The Fantastic Family Whipple, but this book is most likely better for younger audiences. The jokes and the situations are perfect humor but are very much targeted for kids. If you know younger readers who love humor and can't stop reading the Guinness Book of World Records, they will love The Fantastic Family Whipple. Overall, it was a pretty good book. I was just very frustrated in the fact that Arthur's parents (especially his father) treated him like he was a failure to the entire family and that he didn't deserve to be there just because he hadn't broken a world record. The storyline is a bit boring, and if you were to read it, you would have to most likely have some patience.
