Roseheads
Rosehead
Ksenia Anske
Roseheads, by Ksenia Anske, is creepy, fantastical, and haunting. Misunderstood and overmedicated, twelve-year-old Lilith Bloom finds the prospect of a grand family reunion decidedly dull... That is, until she discovers that the rose garden surrounding her grandfather's Berlin mansion is, well, completely and utterly carnivorous. With a rose woman haunting Lilith and her family, Lilith tries greatly to warn her family. But being the 12 year old who need medication, she is called a liar and psycho. Armed with Panther, her talking pet whippet, and the help of the mute boy next door, Lilith must unravel the secrets behind the mysterious estate, all while her family remains gloriously unaware that they are about to be devoured.
Roseheads is haunting and fantastical for all readers. When I originally read this book, I was not interested and found the story boring and strange. But, as I continued reading, the plot became more interesting and caught my attention. The story is kind of dark and twisted in certain ways but I personally enjoy these types of stories. If you don’t enjoy darker stories than you may not enjoy reading Roseheads. I personally loved reading Roseheads, and I’m sure many other readers will enjoy this story as well.
